The Camera Tree
You can select a camera from the Camera Tree, located on the Cameras tab on the right panel of the Secondary Window.
Select a folder from Camera Groups list in the upper window of the tab. The name and number of the cameras in your selected group appear in the lower window of the tab in a tree structure. Each camera has an icon associated with it.
| Camera Icon | Camera Status |
|---|---|
| Green | The camera is turned on and the signal is OK. |
| White | The camera is turned off. |
| Red | There is a loss of signal or problem with the signal. |
| Yellow | The camera is currently in hotswap mode (automatic). |
| Gray | The camera is currently in hotswap mode (manual) |
Click the camera on the tree that you want to select. Video for this camera appears in the Video Window, and the camera number appears on the Camera button on the Task Bar.
If more specified device groups have been configured, they will appear as sub-folders in the Camera Groups list.
Alternatively, you can drag and drop the Camera Tree button from the Device Selection group on the Customize View menu to a panel of your choice.
Setup: There is an optional configuration for pausing recorded video playback upon changing cameras. See your Synectics system administrator for details.
Adding and Editing Camera Groups
As well as selecting from existing camera groups, you can add and edit your own personal group using the buttons at the bottom of the list. This will show in your camera tree with your own personal user icon so that you can easily see that it is your own individual group. To make this group available to others, you will need to go to Setup Device Groups and de-select the Personal Groups checkbox.
Sorting the Camera Tree
You can sort which cameras are listed in the tree by three criteria.
Click the sort button on the left below the Camera Tree.
Select one of the three options.
The Camera Tree list sorts by either Camera Id, Camera Name or Index.
Filtering the Camera Tree
There are three checkboxes below the Camera Tree list. These are labeled Problem, OK and Unmonitored. You can enable these using the client configuration setting: cameratreeFilterCheckBoxes
Selecting any of them includes cameras with that status in the Camera Tree list. Unchecking the box filters out cameras with that associated status.
You can also see at a glance the number of cameras in each category using the camera count below each checkbox.
Hotswap Playback Panel
Synergy can display a panel beneath the Cameras tab which shows whether or not hotswap playback is enabled. The text alongside the checkbox also changes to red when the current selected camera is within 30 minutes of a hotswap having taken place. When you select this button, it also switches the cameras to live so that all recording requests are reset. Otherwise the recorded request could be in an unpredictable state of behaviour.
You will need the client configuration setting <hotswapEnablePanel>true</hotswapEnablePanel>.
