Asset Register
The Asset Register provides an overview of all Synectics hardware and software installed on a site, including which version of each. This provides key information on the architecture of the Synergy system. Among other aspects, the tool states the number of users and licenses added, the number of cameras and PSN units configured, and details of any third-party integrations configured in the system.
The Asset Register enables you to keep an up-to-date record of what is installed on your site, meaning that any upgrades or expansions are easier to arrange and apply because there is an immediate understanding of the current architecture.
Support teams will also be able to diagnose and resolve any issues faster and more effectively, now that information on the current state on a site's system is readily available.
The Asset Register is included in current Synergy versions and can also be installed on older versions, if required. For information, see the Synergy - Installing the Asset Register on Legacy Systems Technical Note on the Synectics Global Support Portal.
To access the Asset Register, go to Setup.
Click Asset Register.
For each sub-tab, you can use the Table Design options to run dataveillance queries, edit the table or save it as a new layout:
To locate a data item, use the Search Filters.
You can also save the data in each tab as a PDF, XML or CSV (comma-separated values) file by selecting a radio button and clicking Save Data As.
Overview Tab
On the Overview tab, the following sub-tabs give a summary of the system architecture and any version inconsistencies to be rectified:
- Main Details - Site information, including integrator and customer details and contact information
- Aggregate Count - Total counts of each element of the Synergy system architecture
- Local Software Versions - Software versions on the local Synergy system (installed on the local machine on which the Asset Register is being run)
- Remote Software Versions - Software versions on the remote Synergy system(s), if applicable
- Inconsistent Versions - Any inconsistencies across software versions to be rectified. Version inconsistency is the most common root cause of issues arising in the Synergy system.
To toggle between showing and hiding these tabs, click the green + button in the top right-hand corner.
Setup: De-select a checkbox to hide its associated tab on the Asset Register. Hiding a tab will also omit information on that system aspect from any reports exported from the Asset Register.
Main Details
On the Main Details tab, the specifics of your site should already have been configured.
To change these details, edit the fields and click Save.
Setup: The abililty to edit these details requires certain system permissions. For information, contact your system administrator.
Aggregate Count
Total unit counts of each element of the Synergy system architecture are listed.
Local Software Versions
Version numbers for each software hosted on the local machine (the machine on which the Asset Register is being run) are listed.
Remote Software Versions
Version numbers for each software hosted on the remote server are listed.
Note: In a Synergy system, a remote site is defined as a site that is geographically distributed from the central (or 'local') site, with its Synergy clients connected to their own Synergy server (not to that of the central site).
Inconsistent Versions
If all software versions are up-to-date, the table will show OK.
If any software versions are inconsistent, the table will count the total number of instances of each version. It will list the version number and how many are available, alongside how many are not found.
You can click on the hyperlink in the column to display details of the device in each column, showing the device name, IP address and version.
Details Tab
On the Details tab, the following sub-tabs give details of each aspect of the Synergy system, down to the specific configuration of each device, categorization or element:
- Cameras - All camera units configured in the Synergy system
- Camera Types - All Camera Types configured in the Synergy system
- PSNs - All PSN units configured in the Synergy system
- Workstations - All client workstations (computers) configured in the Synergy system
- Display Walls - All Display Wall units configured in the Synergy system
- Users - All user accounts configured in the Synergy system
