Creating a New Fault
To create a new fault, click + New Fault in the top right of the Faults Data tab.
The Fault Id field is automatically populated by Synergy.
There are two Device drop-down menus. Once you have made a selection from the menu on the left, the second drop-down menu (on the right) is populated with options for devices of this type.
From the Device Type drop-down menu, select the type, for example, camera or PSN, on which the fault is being reported, and then select the device name.
Note: For ONVIF-compliant and Synectics cameras, the system will attempt to auto-complete the device details. If not, the following instructions detail how to populate them manually.
Existing Faults
If this device has already had faults reported against it, these will be displayed below the device name.
Now make a selection from the Fault Type drop-down menu. You can filter the fault types available for a specific device by configuring your fault types so that they will be the first shown in the drop-down list as available for selection for a particular device. See configuration detail below. On the Setup Fault Types page, use the Limit to Device field to configure this filter.
Make a selection from the Fault Sub-type drop-down menu, if options are available.
Setup: The options for Fault Type and Fault Sub-type are configured in Setup -> System Setup -> Advanced Configuration -> Faults -> Setup Fault Types.
Select a severity level from the Severity drop-down menu.
Select Logged from the Status drop-down menu (this is the status for a new fault).
Enter the date/time for the fault.
Enter a description of the fault and, if possible, how to replicate it, in the Description field.
Additional Details
If the fault is present continuously, as opposed to intermittently, select the Fault is Constant checkbox.
If the fault continues to exist even after you have performed a power cycle (full shutdown and boot up) on the affected unit, select the Fault Persists Power Cycle checkbox.
If applicable, in the Frequency of Fault field, enter how often this fault occurs.
Maintainer allows you to select the person to be assigned to the fault. If you have pre-assigned a maintainer to a specific fault type, this will show by default if the fault type has been configured on this screen. Click Contact Info to see their details. On the Setup Fault Types configuration page, use the Maintainer field to configure this default.
You can also enter a job reference, if applicable.
The Make, Model, Serial Number, Firmware Version, MAC Address and Hardware Revision fields are automatically populated with the selected device's information, if available.
Click Save. The newly created fault will display in the faults list.
