Saving Incidents to a Removable Drive
You can save incidents to a removable drive for export to third parties, for back up, and to create storage room in your incident lockers.
To copy an incident to a removable drive, select it from the list in the View Locker Contents dialog.
Click the Copy to Drive button.
Note: The Copy to Drive button is present only if your system is set up to allow this option.
The Select Drive dialog appears.
Make your drive selection from the Select Drive Name drop-down menu and click OK. The Starting Export Process dialog appears.
Click OK.
The incident will be saved in a folder named recorded_video_data that is automatically created by the system. You can also create your own target sub-folder. See your system administrator for details.
Synectics Media Player 2 will also be saved to the removable drive. You can use this to play the incident footage on a PC; see the Synergy Media Player 2 User Guide on the Synectics Global Support Portal for more information on this application. If you are using non-modal dialog boxes in Synergy, you will be given the option of whether or not you wish to include the Media Player when saving.
Password-Protecting Incident Footage Accessible via the Media Player
Synergy gives you the option to encrypt footage and force the use of a username and password to allow playback. In addition, if you attempt playback for these files on an older media player, they will fail to play back.
To use this feature:
The SynxEd tool will need copying into the bin directory of the synergyii folder.
The following two client configuration settings are needed:
-
<enableExportUsernameAndPassword>true</enableExportUsernameAndPassword>
-
<encryptExportedSynav2Files>true</encryptExportedSynav2Files>
Create the incident as normal and select Copy to Drive. When prompted, enter the username and password to be used and select Requires Password.
When opening the footage in the media player, you will be prompted to enter the same username and password.
Exporting Specific Cameras from an Incident
There is also a mechanism in Synergy where a user can export specific cameras from within an incident to a removable drive, instead of exporting the entire incident archive. You can enable this with the client configuration setting: <removableExportSelectCameras>true</removableExportSelectCameras>
